Nifedipine enhances the bronchodilator effect of salbutamol.

چکیده

Ten male asthmatic volunteers each inhaled two puffs (200 micrograms) of salbutamol on two separate days 30 minutes after double blind oral administration of either 20 mg nifedipine or identical placebo. FEV1 was recorded before and at intervals for four hours after inhalation of salbutamol. Overall the FEV1 was significantly greater during the four hour period after premedication with nifedipine (p less than 0.025) and the difference between the effects of placebo and nifedipine was greatest four hours after salbutamol (p less than 0.005). These results suggest that nifedipine prolongs the bronchodilator action of salbutamol in vivo.

Response of asthmatics to isoprenaline and salbutamol aerosols administered by intermittent positive-pressure ventilation.

The bronchodilator and cardiac effects produced by aerosols of 0.5% isoprenaline and of 0.25, 0.5, and 1% salbutamol administered in 40% oxygen by intermittent positive-pressure ventilation were compared in 24 asthmatic patients. Isoprenaline and salbutamol in concentrations of 0.5% were equipotent in peak bronchodilator effect; salbutamol was superior in total bronchodilator effect and duratio...

The bronchodilator effect of salbutamol administered by IPPB to patients with asthma. A controlled comparison with isoproterenol and placebo.

The bronchodilator and cardiovascular activity of isoproterenol hydrochloride (Isuprel) 5.0 mg, Salbutamol 5.0 and 2.5 mg and saline administered by IPPB to 30 patients with chronic bronchial asthma were determined and compared. Equal doses of isoproterenol and Salbutamol had similar peak bronchodilator effect, but the peak effect was reached much earlier with isoproterenoL Salbutamol bad longe...

Overcoming beta-agonist tolerance: high dose salbutamol and ipratropium bromide. Two randomised controlled trials

BACKGROUND Asthmatics treated with long-acting beta-agonists have a reduced bronchodilator response to moderate doses of inhaled short acting beta-agonists during acute bronchoconstriction. It is not known if the response to higher doses of nebulised beta-agonists or other bronchodilators is impaired. We assessed the effect of long-acting beta-agonist treatment on the response to 5 mg nebulised...

Effect of acute hyperoxia on the bronchodilator response to salbutamol in stable asthmatic patients.

BACKGROUND Recent animal studies have suggested that changes in oxygen tension may alter airway responses to bronchoconstrictor and bronchodilator stimuli. These effects may have relevance to the management of acute exacerbations of asthma but have not been well studied in man. This study was designed therefore to examine the effect of acute hyperoxia (Fio2 1.0) on the bronchodilator response t...

A comparative study of atropine methonitrate, salbutamol, and their combination in airways obstruction.

Dose-response relationships of the cholinergic antagonist, atropine methonitrate, and the beta-adrenergic agonist, salbutamol, were examined by cumulative dose techniques. A wet aerosol, 1.5 mg atropine methonitrate produced a maximum response. The response to 200 microgram of salbutamol from a pressurised aerosol was close to maximum. Secondly, the bronchodilator response of salbutamol microgr...
